Edible Numbers

How do you eat a fraction? 1/4 at a time!
This week, we have been studying fractions the FUN way...we've eaten them! Thank you parents, for supplying the materials needed for our delicious math lessons.

Oh, the weather outside is frightful!

What do third graders do when it is snowing in TEXAS? They GO OUTSIDE AND PLAY! A winter wonderland is a rare occasion, and often very brief, so we take full advantage of the opportunity to explore this unique form of precipitation for our area. It was PERFECT timing, as we were studying the water cycle.

Students removed their socks and shoes to let them dry. The kids formed a heart with their feet, since we "LOVED" playing in the snow! :)

Opera Field Trip

While we couldn't photograph the performance, we took pictures of our traveling and patient waiting for the beginning of the Opera performance of "Billy Goats Gruff." Our class enjoyed this cultural opportunity and represented our school with FABULOUS behavior! I was very proud of your kids.

100 Minute Share Awards!

These students received the 100 minute award for our S.H.A.R.E reading program, in which they have read aloud (or have been read aloud to) at home for at least 100 minutes during the first nine weeks. (Not pictured: Melody) WAY TO GO, friends!!!!!

Mrs. Anthony's Birthday!

WOW! What an amazing day...I LOVE my third graders! Thank you for making "one year older" feel FABULOUS! You were all so generous and thoughtful. Lunch from Olive Garden for my team and the cookie cake was delicious! I am looking forward to using my gift cards, enjoying my chocolate, escaping into a movie night with popcorn, and smelling my beautfiul flowers! You did an amazing job at making your teacher feel loved and appreciated today.

We enjoyed a silly moment for the camera! :)

Field Trip to the Museum

What an exciting day for our third graders! We went to a local historical museum, where the students enjoyed many hands-on experiences and learned new things about the community in which they live. Take a peak below at our special day!

This bank safe was said to have survived an atomic blast, unscathed!

Each student had the opportunity to use an old printing

press and took home a copy of their work.

Different rooms displayed various time periods with artifacts from that era. The kids especially loved the television from the 70's with Alfred Hitchcock playing!

Our tour guide gave us lots of information.

We loved the old cars and the gas station pumps!

Sharing fun with friends

We love birthdays in Mrs. Anthony's classroom! Thanks to all of our friends who have shared their special day with us. "One year older and wiser too...Happy Birthday--to YOU!"

Parents,

Please read the question below and post your answer as a comment.

"As I was going to St. Ives,
I met a man with 7 wives.
Every wife had 7 sacks.
Every sack had 7 cats.
Every cat had 7 kittens.
Kittens, cats, sacks, and wives,
How many were going to St. Ives?"
