Multiplication Brain Teaser--Parent's Homework!

Parents,

Please read the question below and post your answer as a comment.

"As I was going to St. Ives,
I met a man with 7 wives.
Every wife had 7 sacks.
Every sack had 7 cats.
Every cat had 7 kittens.
Kittens, cats, sacks, and wives,
How many were going to St. Ives?"

  2. #11 - mom said...Since "I" was the only one going to St. Ives...the rest of the kittens, cats, and wives were just met on the way...only ONE is going to St. Ives.

    If all the kittens, cats, and wives were going to st. ives as well as the man and "I" then:
    I = 1
    man = 1
    wives = 7
    cats = 343
    kittens = 2401

    total added up = 2753 everyone going to st. ives
    Whew!
